These ratings are based on actual results patients experienced while in Adventist Health St. Helena.
Healthgrades objectively measures hospital quality based on the number of patients who experienced complications as a result of their procedure or treatment. For each procedure, treatment, and specialty area, Healthgrades rates hospitals based on their performance. Your risk of complications can be significantly lower at hospitals who perform in the better than expected category.
- The Women’s Health Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for superior outcomes in care provided to women across 15 common in-hospital conditions and procedures. Women who receive care for these conditions and procedures at a hospital recognized with a Women’s Health Excellence Award have, on average, a lower risk of mortality and complications.
- The America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement Award™ recognizes hospitals for superior outcomes in knee replacement and hip replacement. Patients who have these surgeries at these nationally recognized hospitals have a lower risk of experiencing a complication during their hospital stay.
- The Pulmonary Care Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for superior outcomes in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia. Patients who receive COPD or pneumonia treatment at these nationally recognized hospitals have a lower risk dying.
- The Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ recognizes hospitals for providing outstanding patient experience based on 10 measures related to doctor and nurse communication, hospital cleanliness and noise levels, and medication and post-discharge care instructions. The award is based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient survey data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
